Prairie Court

prairie court - melfort housing authority

Prairie Court is a Social Housing project, for low income individuals or families.  It is located at 105 Melfort Street West, in Melfort, SK.  Twenty-four (24) townhouses with one, two, and three-bedroom units are conveniently located beside a public playground, and only half a block away from Maude Burke School (Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6).

Each townhouse is unfurnished, except for refrigerator and range.  Laundry equipment is available in each unit for a small monthly rental fee, based on family size.  Bedrooms and bath are located on the upper floor, with kitchen, dining, and living room areas on the main floor.  The basement can not be used as living space; however, it provides great storage.  Parking is available for one vehicle, and private patios provide space for outdoor relaxation.  Storage sheds are available for seasonal items, such as bicycles or barbecues.

Applicants must qualify according to the Asset Limits and Household Income Maximums (SHIMs) as set out by Saskatchewan Housing Corporation.  Rent is calculated at 30% of monthly household income.  Tenants may qualify for employment and/or heating allowance deductions, depending on their circumstances.  A security deposit of $326.00 is collected for each unit.  Tenants are responsible for all utility services – heating, electricity, and water/sewer.

Tenants are encouraged to purchase insurance so that they are protected in the event of a fire or other incident.  Prairie Court, and all Melfort Housing Authority properties, are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed.
