Our Programs
Housing is offered under two programs
1. Social Housing Program
Individuals, Seniors & Families
The Social Housing Program provides safe and affordable housing to individuals, seniors 55+ and families. This program is intended to serve households with low incomes. Rent is based on gross household income. Income tax returns and pay cheque stubs are typically used to verify gross income. Other official documents maybe needed to verify other benefits or income sources. (see page 3 of the Social Housing Program handout)
Applicants are eligible for the program:
- Are legally allowed to be in Canada
- Are not temporary visitors to Canada
- Have gross income and assets below program limits. *
- Able to live independently (may include support from family, the community or other agencies)
The rent is based on 30% of the gross monthly household income (minimum and maximum rents apply)*.
* excludes the Senior Housing Program
2. Senior Housing Program
This program provides comfortable rental housing for seniors 55+ regardless of income or assets.
Rent is based on the current maximum rent set by the Saskatchewan Housing Authority of $750 for a 1 bedroom unit and $910 for a 2 bedroom unit.
For more information, please see the Senior Housing Handout.
Families
Our family housing units are available under the Social Housing Program for families with children under the age of 18.
Applicants must provide a recent rental history, including landlord references and must be eligible to have utilities connected.
For families, Social Housing is intended to allow families to improve their economic circumstances so they will be able to afford housing in the private market.
